Seamon Branch

The Seamon branch of our family tree begins with the union of Samuella Virginia Baugus (my great grandmother) and Ambus Seamon, I. I've found no marriage certificate for this union, but at least one child was born to the union, Ambus Seamon, II who was born on August 22, 1892.

Ambus Seamon, II

Ambus, II met and married Louella Williams (1895) and to this union six (6) children were born: Exal (1913); Ambus III (1916); Elvin (1918); Milton (1920); and Willie Mae (1923).

Ambus Seamon, III

Ambus Manuel Seamon, III was born on August 24, 1916 in Cass County, Texas to the union of Ambus Seamon, II and Luella Williams. Ambus was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Hugo, Oklahoma. Ambus, III also served with distinction in the United States Army. He attended Bishop College in Marshall, Texas and was a graduate of the United Theological Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana. Ambus would meet and married Georgia Mae Settles on October 14, 1950.

Ambus, III was the pastor of the renowned Olive Branch Baptist Church for forty years, a church he served and loved dearly. Rev. Seamon was a community leader and activist, and an advocate for public housing. He was instrumental in leading the way for the establishment of the Olive Branch Garden Apartments, now renamed.

Rev. Seamon served for many years as the president of the Paris Ministerial Alliance, a member of the NAACP, a member of the Paris Junior College Board of Regents, president of the Zion District Sunday School Council, and president of the B.M. and E. State Ministries' Conference.

Reverend Seamon was a member of numerous ecumenical and human relations organizations, a community pastor with concern for his fellowman and will always remain in the hearts and minds of the region. He was truly a "Friend of Man".

Exal SEAMON Brown (1913-1997)

Exal was the eldest of six (6) children. Exal was born on April 22, 1913, and raised in Paris, Texas. At the age of eighteen she moved to Kansas City where she met and married Price Ernest Brown on November 15, 1932.

Mother Brown joined with Greystone Heights Missionary Baptist Church on October 10, 1933. Exal was a charter member and held may positions in the church; she served on the Mother Board and in Sunday School as a teacher and youth leader. She served wherever she was needed.

Exal and Price were blessed with three (3) children: Lemuel Nelson (1933-1995); Laura (1936); and Hannah (1937).

Lemuel married Bernice Pernell and to this union two (2) known children were born: Eola Simone (1931-2016); and Jesse Bell (1937-1997).

Laura married Charles W. Sims, and I have no other information on Hannah or her branch of the family.

Luella "L.E." SEAMON (1914-1999)

Luella was born on September 11, 1914, in Bivins, Cass County, Texas. At twenty (20) years of age Luella was blessed with a daughter Mary Elizabeth, born in 1934.

Mary Elizabeth would meet and marry Australia Cally Hubbard (1926-2016). Mary and Australia were blessed with six (6) children: Deborah Ann (1956); Michael Glenn (1956); Ronald Gene (1959); Regina Yvette (1960); Carlton Ray (1962); and Stephen (1964).
